Save On Foods Canada Coupon Policy

Here is the coupon policy for Save On Foods (Print):

Our coupon acceptance practices are designed to help extend more savings to our
customers while ensuring we continue to offer an exceptional customer service
experience to everyone in our stores. We don’t limit the number of coupons redeemed per transaction necessarily, but rather, we focus on our responsibility to follow the directions clearly stated on those coupons.

To receive your coupon discount please:
• present your coupon at the time of purchase
• ensure all conditions stated on the coupon are met (product to purchase, limits etc.)
• ensure all product specifications are met (size, flavor, etc)
• ensure your coupon is redeemed prior to the expiration date
• if printed from the internet, your coupon is legible
• ensure your coupon is not a photocopy
• ensure your coupon is not issued by one of our competitors

Store issued coupons:
store coupons are distributed through flyers, email, in-store kiosks, social media and direct mail.
• Our store system reinforces the conditions of every coupon we receive to ensure that
specifications are met (including banner, date, product specifications, limits, combinations, etc).
• Can be combined with manufacturer coupons
• Only one store issued coupon can be redeemed per item (no stacking)

Manufacturer issued coupons:
• Can be combined with a store issued coupon
• Must have a Canadian address; US coupons aren’t accepted
• The total value of the coupons cannot exceed the value of the product
• Multiple manufacturers’ coupons can be redeemed per item (stacking), only if each coupon comes from a different media source (e.g. manufacturer, newspaper, website, etc) and has a different code (or UPC)
• Stacking isn’t allowed on ‘buy one, get one’ free (BOGO) products
• Stacking isn’t allowed if the fine print says: Use of more than one manufacturer coupon per product is strictly prohibited or if wording states “cannot be combined with other offers”
• Splitting coupons across multiple products is not allowed
• All taxes are payable on the full value of the item, unless the coupon specifications state it’s for a ‘free’ taxable product
• Deposits and fees are payable on applicable products regardless of the coupons’ discount
• Manufacturer’s mail-in-rebates will be honored by the manufacturer not the store (and are not considered coupons)

Guidelines for high volume coupon redeemers:
• Please call ahead to ensure we have adequate team members available on our front end at the time you plan to shop so that we can accommodate your needs while providing great service to our other customers.
• At checkout, please ensure that coupons are placed with each item to speed up the coupon validation and checkout process.
• If you hope to purchase large quantities of individual items, please provide 2 – 3 days notice to your local store manager so we can properly manage inventory requirements
• Please note that we reserve the right to limit quantities purchased based on inventory available for all customers.
• Please note that we will not accept large quantities of multiple coupons during any special promotional days. For more information, please see your manager.
• We reserve the right to amend the above mentioned practices at any time, in consideration of the best experience for our customers.

(Thanks, Jennifer)

Why is Price Smart wanting to keep any flyers we are using to PM an item? They said they have made changes to their policy but if you read SOF policy it does not state that at all

  2. Mrs January says:

    Courtney: Yes. :)

  3. Courtney says:

If a coupon says “Limit one coupon per purchase” are you able to stack it with different UPC coupons?

  4. Lisa says:

Hi. Last night I was told at SOF that they had a coupon policy change and that stacking is no longer accepted. I have emailed SOF to confirm this. I know there has been a lot of confusion around the wording on the coupons. I will keep you posted as to what I find out.

  5. Lynne says:

I shop at SOF all the time, especially on sale items (which can be great deals). My kids love all the free samples they give out on the weekends. I have never had any problems redeeming coupons there and have had the cashiers accept a coupon that exceeded the sale price. They told me they can adjust it (I checked before it was rung in) and that was no problem. I love that I can finally stack all my grocery coupons, not just the ones LD carries. If they price matched, my shopping life would be almost perfect!

  6. Mrs January says:

Jennifer: Not that I’m aware of!

  7. Jennifer says:

Does Save On accept competitors coupons?

  8. Emily says:

Save On has allowed stacking for a while–I am thinking since sometime this past spring.

Note that comment about the wordings that are not accepted. It seems like now that 80-90% of coupons coming out now have that type of wording. I guess that is really the manufacturers intent–to provide an incentive of a coupon for an item.

Will agree with others that Save On can be expensive. I watch the flyers, and primarily like their bulk section for baking supplies that I don’t want a large amount of.

  9. Heather says:

When did save-on change its policy to accept stacking?

When did save on change their policy to allow stacking?

  11. Sandra says:

I haven’t shopped in Save-On in years simply due to their high prices but I did love their selection. Recently I have been in there due to convenience and started redeeming various coupons to see how they handled the process and if I would get any grief – particularly with internet coupons. They didn’t even blink when I presented internet coupons. Safeway will not accept them but Save-On didn’t even question them. Something positive to note, that is for sure.

  12. trish says:

i no most places will just punch in 3.99 for a 4 dollar coupon they wont if it exceeds it i would think they can just punch in the price or not give the overage

  13. Lori says:

Save on used to have good prices, now they don’t even compare.

  14. Marcy says:

Save on is WONDERFUL!! What a great policy they have outlined. I wish more stores would word it like this.

They have great customer service. I always try to shop early in the morning or later in the evening after 9pm. Then I don’t feel bad for holding up a line up.

    Thanks for posting this.

Save-on is my usual grocery shopping store. I find they are pretty good at accepting all my coupons. I did have a problem on my last trip though. I had a coupon for 4 dollars off Tums, which were on sale for 3.99. the cashier wouldn’t let me use the coupon as it “exceeded the price of the item”. I thought that was a bit ridiculous, but overall they are pretty good.
