As I’m sure many of you know, stores follow a yearly sales cycle, so with a few exceptions, you can usually anticipate finding the same products on sale at the same time every year.

Here’s what you can expect to find on sale in April:

Winter Apparel

In April, stores are really starting to push out their spring apparel and get rid of all the old winter jackets, gloves, boots and hats that they have in stock – so this is the perfect time to pick up those items for next year.

Cleaning Supplies

The spring cleaning bug has bitten most people come April and most retailers know this and will start selling household cleaning supplies at discount prices, in order to get people into their store.

Vacuum Cleaners

Keeping with the spring cleaning theme, you can also expect to find vacuum cleaners on sale in April to assist you with getting your home squeaky clean.

Paint & Wallpaper

Now that the weather has warmed up, people have started to do repairs on their home. This includes painting and wallpapering. For this reason, expect to see lots of sales on paint and wallpaper (as well as painting supplies).

Warmer weather also means it’s time for some gardening. This month, there will be many sales on gardening tools such as shears, spades, shovels, gardening gloves and kneelers.

Wedding and graduation season are right around the corner, which means lots of retailers will be lowering prices on many great cookware items to give as gifts. Look for full cookware sets, as these seem to sell the most and therefore offer the best discounts.

Televisions

You don’t have to wait until Boxing Day to find great deals on televisions, April is actually a pretty good month for sales as well! The fiscal year ends in March for most Japanese companies and new models coincide with the new fiscal year – meaning older models will begin to lower in cost.
