After I did my cleaning and DH came home from work, we made dinner, took the dogs for a walk, fed the dogs and cats, took the garbage out and did the dishes. It has been a very productive day and I am so pleased! I hope tomorrow is just as good. =)

Now, though, I am going to go downstairs to relax for the rest of the night. I ’ll just watch TV if there’s anything good on. Otherwise, I might be tempted to play Nintendo! Too bad we don’t have xbox 360, that would be fun to play instead!

Works For Me Wednesday: Coupons!

I think it’s safe to say that coupons work for me. They make my life so much easier, so much more exciting and so much cheaper! Alot of people tell me they would like the savings that come along with coupons, but don’t have the time. If I hear that one more time I am going to scream! I don’t do much during the day so I have a ton of time to sit online and find coupons, deals and freebies. That’s why I have such a large stockpile. However, just because you don’t have as much time as I do doesn’t mean you can’t use coupons! You can sit down once a day for maybe 15 minutes – order coupons online or print them, whatever. You can clip coupons while you watch your favourite TV show. It’s not that hard. Find out when the stores in your area have their new flyers released and once a week, price match with your coupons to see how cheap you can buy things for by using the coupons you have on hand.

Anyway, I kind of gave a lecture there, but what I really meant to say was coupons work for me (and they can work for you too)! Check out Rocks In My Dryer for more Works For Me Wednesday tips!

Coupon trading is fun!

So yesterday night was garbage night and since there was a FPC (free product coupon) in the coupon insert, I went through the recycle bins again. I got the same amount that I got the last time I did this – 9 booklets! However, since the bins were still not emptied when I got up this morning, I went out again and found 2 more. This time the FPC is for Pledge Multi Surface Duster. I don’t need these because I already have 1 and over a year’s worth of refills. I also already have a bunch in my Christmas gift basket box! So.. what to do with the FPC? Why, coupon trading of course!

My plan was to trade each coupon for 1,000 Shoppers Drug Mart optimum points. I am trying to build them up! I have only had one person interested in that, but I HAVE made some other great deals with them (and other stuff). Here are the deals I have made since last night:

- 3 Pledge FPC = 3/$1 Toblerone coupons (which will yeild me Toblerone bars for tax only) and a FPC for 2.27kg bag Nutro Dog Food
- 1 Pledge FPC = 1,000 SDM points
- 3 Pledge FPC = 1 Kashi Granola Bars FPC, $7.50 SDM Gift Card

I also did 2 trades:
- 10,000 SDM points (OUCH! So much for building them up!) = 3/$1 Toblerone coupons (which will yeild me Toblerone bars for tax only), 1 FPC bag Nutro Cat Food, 1 FPC Tetley Tea
- 600 SDM points = 7/$2 Febreze coupons (will yeild me FREE travel size Febreze), $1 Mr. Clean Eraser coupon (will only end up paying tax for one of these)
- 1 FPC for Coffeemate = $3 Chapmans coupon (will get me free ice cream!)

I’m so happy with these trades so far, I can’t wait until all of those coupons start coming in! FPCs are great! I’m kind of glad I didn’t need the ones I got in the papers this week. Ha!

Who wants FREE YOGURT?

I got a great coupon today that I wanted to pass on. Click the photo and it will open in a new window and you can print it. I have already printed mine and picked up the yogurt tonight. I’m gonna try it for breakfast tomorrow. Yum!

I really want to thank my friends at SC for this great freebie! For my Canadian readers, I highly suggest you sign up to SmartCanucks. Even if you don’t plan to post, signing up is a great idea because you get access to more pages. The site updates multiple times per day with new deals, coupons and freebies! It’s a great little community and I am so happy to have found it and be a part of it. So sign up!

Great Day

Although today was hot and humid, I had a great day. First, I made our wedding invitations, which turned out really cute. They are all in the envelopes, I just need to get some addresses from my mom and Richard’s mom for our aunts and uncles. I don’t think I am going to mail them until at least the middle of June though, so I have plenty of time.

Once I finished our invitations I made some lunch (tuna salad) and it was yummy! Then I went to get the mail and got quite a few great things:
- Over $110 in Petsmart coupons
- 2 $1.00 coupons from General Mills
- Coupon for $5.00 off any Venus razor (they are on sale for $6.99)
- Coupon for Buy 3 get one free Campbells Chunky Soup
- Coupon for $10 off Gillette Fusion razor (they are on sale for $9.99!)
- Coupon for $2 off LiveActive Cheese
- Coupon for $1.00 off Mr. Clean erasers (they are on sale for .99!)
- Coupon for .75 off Neilson Milk
- Coupon for FREE tin of cat food
- Coupon for $1.00 off Pure Divine body wash
- Coupon for $3.00 off Busy Bone dog treat
- Coupon for $7.50 off Purina Pro Plan pet food
- Coupon for .75 off Quaker rice cakes
- Coupon for $1.00 off Royale bathroom tissue
- Rebate check from Mr. Clean Erasers ($2.84)
- Gas bill (booo!)

I think that’s it! It was a pretty good mail day. What did you get in your mailbox today?

I then watched the Food network on TV for about 4 hours (I didn’t realize I had watched it so long!) and I got all sorts of recipes that I want to try now. First, I made dinner. We had taco salad (tacos without the shell). They were tasty! Then I made one of the recipes that I saw on TV – I made crepes. Now, I already have a crepe recipe, but it calls for whipping cream and homo milk and I didn’t have the milk and this recipe didn’t call for either of those so I just made that and what do you know – they tasted the same! I then boiled strawberries, water and sugar for a few minutes and when it was caramelized, I put it inside my crepe, rolled it up, and topped it off with melted chocolate and some of the leftover strawberry juice from the strawberries. It was SO FREAKIN’ GOOD. I will definetely be making these again! I will probably need to get some life insurance rates because I’m pretty sure these crepes aren’t very healthy. Whoops!

I just got finished watching The Bachlorette and now I am just finishing up a few things online and then I am off to bed. I hope you all have a wonderful night and a great day tomorrow!

hoping for better things

Well, I was hesitant, but I went through my finances today and changed some things. I removed a few items from my monthly expenses that I thought were necessary but weren’t and also trimmed down my necessary expenses (food, phone, etc.). With my current income, I can now pay all of my monthly bills instead of being short $800 every month. In order to do that, I had to stop doing one thing that I tell everyone else to do and that is I will not be “paying myself first” for awhile. Instead, I have a GOALS list (you can see it over on the right of this page.. that’s right, you get to see how much I suck with money. Enjoy!). How will I make that extra money for the items on my list? Easy – I can sell things, do more cupcake orders by advertising more (a lady emailed me today about 500 cupcakes, I almost fainted) and other things like that. My list is in terms of importance, which is going by the dates that certain bills must be paid in full (wedding dress, maggie’s vet visit coming up, etc.). I did so much work on the computer today that I’m surprised it’s still even working! I may need a laptop rental soon!

I added my list to the site for 2 reasons.

1. To motivate myself.
2. To motivate others.

I honestly think it will help me to have it there. I get so excited when I see the numbers go down! Anyway, that’s all for me today. I’m happy to have this sorted out so that I am NO LONGER IN THE HOLE EVERY MONTH! I just have to go in to the bank tomorrow to change a few things on my accounts and then it’s done. Until then, I will be in bed sleeping. Goodnight!

I love days like today.

Lots of good news to report today! Let’s do this in point form.

1. Richard got accepted for a job!!! Apparently, in the stock trading industry, this is one of the BEST jobs you can get and it is with the #1 company. I am so proud of him! I know he will do really well and will be making crazy money very soon (here’s to hoping!).
2. I was asked to do ANOTHER bake sale in April. This one is a fundraiser for a school. It’s on the 26th. Erica is going to help me with this one as well – she’s the best. I’ve already ordered our cute cupcake t-shirts we’re gonna wear! They will have other stuff for sale (it’s actually a MOM2MOM sale). Maybe they will have poker tables in case we get bored… ha! Wouldn’t that be something.
3. My business cards came in the mail!! They came really quick. I’m impressed.
4. We tried the new food from the caterer and it was AWESOME! I’m gonna go in there next week I think, to finalize everything and have him make the food for the wedding.
5. I got sweet deals on groceries! I love Friday’s.
6. I also got sweet deals on stuff in the classifieds. I think most of it will be garage sale stuff (I plan on having a big one this summer), but I got a bunch of votive candle holders that I think I might use for the wedding.

I think that just about covers it. We’re looking for a new place because Richard doesn’t want a commute for his job longer than 30 minutes and right now it’s about 2 hours. It’s been tough. Alot of people don’t rent to couples/families with pets and there’s no way I’m getting rid of my babies! We’ll keep looking. We have a month to find something. Cross your fingers for us!

Okay, it’s time for bed. It’s been a long (but awesome!) day. Goodnight!

Like to shop?

Not too long ago, a friend of mine showed me a site called BUY.com and now I know why everyone says why buy.com rocks! They have a huge selection of great products and even offer special shipping deals (FREE SHIPPING too!). I love the fact that I can shop from the comfort of my own home and not have to worry about wasting time standing in line or wasting gas driving to shop. It’s so much easier to just shop online, don’t you think? I bow down to the internet creator!

I made a why buy.com rocks video and even though I look terrible the video speaks for itself. BUY.COM ROCKS!!! Love it. They even have a feature where you can check with competitor’s pricing to see if they may be cheaper. Now that is pretty cool, it shows that they are honest! I also love how they have video product reviews. I have never seen that on a site before so that was pretty cool!
