Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 2 teaspoons of oil
- 3/4 cups of warm milkInstructions
1. Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt and oil. Then, slowly add the milk. Stir until a loose, sticky ball has formed.2. Knead the ball for two minutes on a floured surface then place in a bowl and cover with a damp cloth for 25 minutes.
3. After the dough has rested, break off eight sections, roll them into balls and place on a large baking sheet. Cover the balls with plastic wrap for 10 minutes.
4. After dough has rested, place a ball on a floured surface, pat it out into a four-inch circle, and then roll with a rolling pin until it’s thin and about eight inches around.
5. In a large skillet, heated on med-high, cook each tortilla about 25 seconds on each side. When you see the tortilla start to puff up – it’s done.

Amanda McMurray: Thanks for the lovely comment, I’m so glad that you like the website and have found it helpful!
Hi!! We just love your site here in London Ontario! I am a horrrrible cook but have made it a goal to try to cook more, and experiment more and not get so upset when things don’t turn out. I really don’t enjoy cooking at all! I made your tortilla’s last night and they turned out great! I forgot how much I hated my rolling pin (clearly need more upper arm strength for future tortillas!). But I was very proud of myself! I used many of the “sale” ingredients from this week – walmart chicken, hunts canned tomatoes, peppers and armstrong cheese to make up a enchilada type recipe. Thanks again for all of your great tips (couponing, food and otherwise) and keep your recipes coming!! Thanks so much! Amanda
Heather: Sure, you can!
Love it! Do you know if you can freeze these? My hubby loves tacos and hates the tiny ones at the store I could make up lots of these for him in “man size”, and if I could make big batches to freeze that would be amazing!
I’ve added a “print” link for you!
Mrs January:
How do you print the recipe without printing the whole page?
i have never frozen them or the dough, but im sure you could freeze them no problem! i used to freeze regular tortillas from the store so i assume there should be no issue freezing homemade.
wow thats so awesome, I wonder if these can be made and frozen or the dough ? but either way so much chaper then buying for sure!
this recipe makes about 10-15 tortillas.
So cool!!! Who would have thought you could make these and not have to buy them…we eat tons of these and they are expensive!!! How many did the above recipe make??? Thanks for sharing
