    Recipe for Homemade Popsicles.

    Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles

I finally received my freezer pop maker in the mail this week, so I decided to try my hand at some homemade popsicles.

They were a huge hit with Elliott, and my sister had one when she was over and said it was amazing.

Lemon juice and rind are used to make marmalade and lemon liqueur. Lemon slices and lemon rind are used as a garnish for food and drinks. Lemon zest, the grated outer rind of the fruit, is used to add flavor to baked goods, puddings, rice and other dishes.`..,*

I didn’t see this up there, but if someone already posted, sorry to repeat. When my duaghter was little I used to make popsicles all the time cause wow, they get expensive. I used to use jello as my base, they drip a lot less than making them with just juice or water. If you use an unsweetened jello and use your lemonade as the liquid you would get the same result and a dripless pop.

It has been SO hot here and they have been working non-stop-I just wilt watching them work! They sure were appreciative, that’s for certain! If I had a pool, I would have told them to take a dip!

If it were winter I would have offered coffee-a gesture of kindness goes a long way!

    5. teachermum: That is so sweet of you to make lemonade for the construction workers!

      jaclyn,

I just made a container of homemade lemonade-tasty!

About 3/4 cup of sugar, about 3/4 cup of lemon juice, about a cup of hot water and shake vigorously to dissolve the sugar (easier than making a simple syrup) and the rest cold water (I use an 8 cup container, so about 6 cups).

Online recipes have it more concentrated but this was fine. You could always adjust afterwards. Not cheaper than buying it on sale, but at least you know what is in it! I was out of the concentrate and felt sorry for the construction workers out front so made up a jug for them.

    7. jaclyn: I just used the $1 box from Walmart. :)

I make both smoothie popsicles and juice popsicles for my kids (and me too). They love them! I usually use PC Greek yogurt with honey, milk and frozen fruit for the smoothie ones (so they get a good dose of protein with their fruit). I make the juice ones with 100% juice blends (usually the fruit/veg juice mix – like the V8 that Metro has 50% this week or Oasis blends). I got my popsicle molds at Dollarama for $1.25 for a set of four in the spring. Wish I bought more than 2 sets. They’re so much better than the store bought ones and so much cheaper. I love that I can make whatever flavour I want. Mango is popular with the kids this week.

Ahhh, that looks like a great way to use some of those cheap 4 pound containers of strawberries this week! or the frozen fruit from the cereal promotion a while ago-still have many bags and ds has gone off smoothies for the time being…though I wouldn’t recommend eating them outside this past or coming week without a huge bib or towel!

      great idea!!
i love strawberry lemonade from starbucks and this is a very similar recipe….

      in a blender…
i take frozen strawberries ( just a sandwich ziplock bag full) and country time lemonade ( the amount that would make a jug)
then i add the rest of the blender with ice ( until its full) and about half a thing of water!!
it serves 4 and tastes soooooooo good!!

      thanks for sharing your popsicles!!!

making popsicles/pudding pops are economical & taste great. For the pudding pops, I make up instant pudding with the milk & then pour it into the popsicle holder & freeze them. whenever we want one, we just put it under hot water to pop it out & enjoy. Using juice also works too. good for experimenting with.

sounds yummy, another good idea…. yet not quite as healthy is using pudding, my kids love cookies and creme, I’ve also just frozen the smoothies like the recipe you have on this site

What kind of lemonade do you use? Thanks! Can’t wait to try them:)
