Here is a great frugal tip sent in from one of my readers.

I’m new to your site but thrilled to be invited to contribute a “frugal tip”. I’m so frugal I think I squeak when I walk!

My tip is about left-over coffee. Sometimes I don’t have time for the second cup I’ve made, so when it cools I freeze it in ice-cube trays and then into a zip bag when frozen.

I stockpile them until my family is in the mood for an iced coffee or mocha, then into the blender they go!

    Do you have a complete recipe you could share with me? My husband LOVES ice coffees, what else besides the cubes do you put in because I’d love to make this for him??

    I’ve been saving mine since the weather warmed up. I keep a pitcher in the fridge and when it’s full I add sugar and boil it down to about half it’s volume. Then I keep that in the fridge for later use: half syrup + half milk + ice = mmmmmmm! (I like to blend it so it’s slushy like an iced cappuccino)

    I do something similar as well. I make a pot of coffee and then put it in the fridge. When I feel like an iced coffee I pour some coffee, milk, chocolate or caramel syrup and ice in a cup and enjoy!! Way cheaper than Starbucks or Tim Hortons.

    I made coffee yesterday with the specific purpose of turning it into a cold drink! I found a recipe online that I’ll definitely use again. It’s for the magic bullet, but can be made in a normal blender I’m sure:
    Fill the cup with ice, add 1/2c cold coffee, about 2.5 tbsp of pudding powder (vanilla, chocolate, etc), and then finish filling the cup with ice. Blend until the ice is all crushed. It’s so good! It turns out like a frappuccino. You can also top it with whipped cream and syrup if you like.

    I was also thinking about freezing some coffee in ice cube trays to cut down on the ice used in it, for times I want a stronger drink!

    I just read this recipe a few days ago-couldn’t be any easier! I have a thermos of about that much coffee and a can of the milk in the pantry-may have to give it a whirl!

    from an interesting blog by a woman who has a $60/week budget for groceries/personal care items for her family of 6…and doesn’t use coupons!!! I’ve never seen sweetened condensed milk for under $2….but still not a bad price.
