    Homemade Chalk Paint

Elliott is bored of reagular sidewalk chalk and now loves painting, but painting can be messy, so I thought I’d try something else… chalk paint!

It is super simple to put together and Elliott (and myself, I admit it) had a great time painting on the porch. When we were finished, we sprayed the hose on the paint and it disappeared. Fun and easy to clean up – a definite keeper.

How to Make Homemade Chalk Paint

    Ingredients:
    - 1 Cup Water
    - 1 Cup Corn Starch
    - Food Colouring

    Instructions:
    1. Mix water and corn starch together until smooth.
    2. Divide into muffin tins and add 1-2 drops of food colouring to each little cup.
    3. Mix again until you get desired colour(s).

Shaving cream and food coloring mixes well too and makes a wonderful smelling paint. Washes off super easy.

    3. Thanks for the idea – it can be challenging coming up with fun things for the kids to do in the summer. My son will love this!

    4. Frances Story says:

I run a daycare and for extra fun I water it down more( 2:1 ) and we use spray bottles. Spray the ground, the garage door and each other of course and it all just washes away :)

** if the kids by chance there is any left over, give it a really good shake before you are ready to use them again

    5. Melissa says:

thanks. What other activities do ppl do with 2 year olds? my kid loves to pain and draw and we do that often plus the standard reading etc

    6. Jen says:

Thanks for sharing this great idea! Have you tried it on pavement? – is cleanup equally easy?

    7. Virginia says:

did the red was away easily too? I find with chalk and bath crayons red likes to stick around.
