Do you use Swagbucks as your main search engine? If not, you should! You’re missing out on lots of free stuff – just for searching for things on the internet!
When I first heard about Swagbucks, I thought it was another one of those stupid toolbar things that just got into your computer and sold your info to companies and those companies would spam you and your life would be over. I don’t know. But I was extremely skeptical. I had friends tell me they were making like $15-$20 a month and not doing anything different, all they did was switch search engines. I didn’t believe them. I figured they were sugar coating it or something but it just sounded way too good to be true so I didn’t bother with it.
One day I stumbled across someone’s blog and they said they had been saving thier “bucks” all year long and they paid for their family’s Christmas gifts entirely through Swagbucks! What the eff?! No fair! I decided to give the damn thing a try just so I could say that people are lying and it didn’t work.
The only thing? It DOES work.
I honestly don’t remember exactly when I joined Swagbucks, but it was probably around a year ago, maybe a bit less. In that time, I have earned 24 prizes (all were $5 gift cards for Amazon, but you can redeem for other gift cards or actual objects). I think the Amazon gift cards are the best value for your points, so that’s why I always get those (450 bucks for a $5 gift card). Since I’ve joined I have earned $120! That’s about $10 a month (some months are better than others). This is for doing something that I was already doing, except now I am basically getting PAID for it. Holla! I’m down with that.
So, how do you get lots of Swagbucks “bucks”? Here are my tips:
1. Referrals – This is the BEST way for you to rack up the bucks. It seems hard to convince people to install this thing on their computer and actually use it. It was hard for me, but when I showed them how to get more bucks and they did and won prizes, they were hooked! So, if you can do it, refer people! For every buck that they win, you’ll win as well. You can win up to 1,000 bucks per referral!
2. Toolbar – I know this seems like a huge pain in the arse, and honestly – it is. In the beginning anyway. You’ll get used to it. You can type all of your searches right in the toolbar whenever you want instead of always having to click on the homepage to do it. It’s great for lazy people like me! Also, you earn AT LEAST 1 buck every single day just by opening your toolbar.
3. Make A Search Your Homepage – Most people say to make swagbucks.com your homepage, but I have a much better, sneakier tip for you. Here’s what you do:
- Go to swagbucks.com.
- Search for something you search for alot (I use Google Images for MrsJanuary all the time, so this is what I searched for).
- When the search results come up, you’re good. You want to make the search results page your homepage. Yes, that’s weird. Do it anyway.
- Now, every time you click the HOMEPAGE button (the little house) you will end up at that search page. What does this mean? This means that every time you go to your homepage you will have a chance to win bucks – and you didn’t even have to search for anything!
I hope that makes sense. This is my best tip and after referrals, is how I get the bulk of my bucks.
4. Read The Blog – The SwagBucks blog is always updated with news and special offers. Look for posts from “The Swag Guy” for exclusive Swag Buck opportunities usually only available for blog readers.
5. Add To Facebook – Just like above, you can often find exclusive Swag Buck opportunities on the Swagbucks Facebook page.
These 5 tips are the things that I do myself and the things that I think will earn you the most bucks in the shortest amount of time. It really is easy to win prizes. Give it a shot, you won’t be dissapointed!
Not a member of Swagbucks? Sign up here! You will earn 30 bucks just for joining!

you also get 1 SB per day each – for doing a daily poll (takes 10 seconds!) and just for visiting the surveys page and the NOSO page daily
you can use multiple $5 GCs per order and yes you can apply them to tax/shipping.
One more question
Can you apply the gift cards to the shipping cost or is that always separate? Thank you.
Hi there,
With the $5 Amazon gift cards, can you use multiples on one item or can you only use one per order? Thanks!
