Using Coupons On Travel Sized Items = FREE Or Very Cheap Stuff

Did you know that you can use most coupons on travel size items at the store? You can!

If you have a coupon that says something along the lines of “save $1.00 on ANY St. Ives product“, check out your store’s travel size section and see what St. Ives products you can find. I know that Walmart has St. Ives facial cleanser for $1.00, so when you apply your $1.00 coupon to that product – it ends up being FREE!

What if the cashier won’t let me use a coupon on a travel sized item?
I have had this happen to me a few times. The cashier sees the items, and when you hand her the coupons she says that coupons are not meant to be used on trial sizes, only the larger sized items. What you do is point out that there is nowhere on the coupon that states a size requirement. The coupon simply says ANY St. Ives product. When you explain it like this, most cashiers will understand and push the coupon through.

Travel sized items are great if you want to try out a product before buying the larger size. They are also handy to keep in places like your car, purse, desk, and of course – for travelling!

What if the coupon amount is more than the cost of the item?
This will probably be the case, as most travel sized items are alot cheaper than the full sized ones (although, not always!). The store will get back the FULL AMOUNT of the coupon, regardless of how much they ring it in as. However, some stores wish to adjust the coupon down to the actual price of the product. This is okay, since most manufacturers prefer this as well. If the cashier flat out refuses to take the coupon at all because it is for more than the price of the item, ask to speak to a manager. Explain that you would be more than happy to just pay the taxes on the item. If they also won’t allow it, tell them to take the items off of your bill (unless you still want them, of course) and that you will be calling head office to let them know about the problem you just had.

Most stores have travel sized products of some sort. Here are a few that I like:
- St. Ives Facial Cleanser @ $1.00 (Walmart) *use $1.00 coupon from tearpads in stores.
- Garnier Hair Gel @ $1.44 (Walmart)
- Garnier Hairspray @ $1.46 (Walmart)

- Colgate Sensitive Toothpaste @ $1.00 (Walmart) *use $1.50 coupon from your dentist.

- Pantene @ $1.29 (Zellers)
- Gillette Shampoo @ .99 (Zellers)

    Great suggestion!

Just wondering where you find tearpads. I go to Walmart & Zellers at Square One, and I haven’t come across any. Same for Basics and 2 SDMs on Burnhamthorpe/Central Parkway, Burnhamthorpe/Cawthra and Hurontario/Eglinton respectively. Are there particular stores or locations where I can get them? Thanks

I’ve been trying to find St. Ives coupons & all I’ve come across is a tear-pad for their lotion. Poop.
