I made one more quick stop at Metro this morning to take advantage of the 50% off store closing sale.

    Here’s what I picked up:

    1x Gerber Cereal @ $4.39 – $2 coupon (came with baby cereal sample in the mail) = $2.39 (saved = $2)
    2x Dry Chickpeas @ $2.79 each = $5.58
    3x Campbell’s Broth @ $2.29 each = $6.87
    1x Irresistibles Broth @ $2
    1x Shreddies Cereal (not pictured) @ $2.99 – $0.75 coupon (not sure where I got this one = $2.24 (saved = $3.75)
    1x All Bran Bars @ $3.79 – $1.50 coupon from Websaver.ca (gone) = $2.29 (saved = $1.50)
    1x Five Roses Flour @ $5.99
1x Catelli Pasta @ $1.99 – $1 coupon = $0.99 (the cashier ended up letting me have this for free because it was going to expire in 3 days)

    Total = $21.37 – 50% off = $11.81

Total value of products = $30.87
    Total paid OOP = $11.81
    Savings of 62%

What’re you doing with all the chickpeas? Good recipe??

    2. Cassie says:

The Metro that is closing is on Eglinton and Creditview in Mississauga.

I was there in the very early afternoon – when it came to “basics” the pricing seemed to have been increased so that half off wasn’t really that great a deal. It was on “luxury” purchases (like the fancy crisps I like to eat with fancy cheese) that I found deals. Some nice bottled honey that was under $5 that would make great thank you gifts (or Christmas gifts) for teachers. Certain teas were well priced, too. I’m glad I went, but I feel that it was money I would not normally have spent in my weekly purchases.

Gerber cereals are 2.88 @ Wal-Mart. At least that’s what they’ve been in the last couple weeks. I never buy baby cereals over 3$, even with coupons. They regularly come on sale for 2.50-3.00$.

I sure wouldn’t mind getting a hand on a 2$ coupon for cereals, though!

Which Metro store did you go to?

So jealous of this store closure!!
