The best part about shopping first thing in the morning? Most stores have fully stocked shelves!

I was very impressed with the cereal selction this morning. I finally found the boxes with the gas card promotion, so I stocked up before they were all gone.

PrairieBargainista: I don’t know why you are assuming I would take off an additional $5 when I redeem the gas cards. I’ve never done that before.

John: Considering I was actually PAID almost $10 to take these groceries out of the store, I hardly believe that I spend too much money.

      @Stephanie and Leslie

I also wonder about this. Often when I have a FPC or high value coupon that is good for day only, such as the recent Fiber One/Nature Valley one I find stuff is moved and hidden. I specifically checked my grocery store ahead of time to make sure they had the product and they were in a dump bin in a very visible location and then the day of the coupon the dump bin was pushed behind a newspaper stand! was really baffled because I searched the entire store and then literally as I was walking out, I noticed something behind the news stand and thought I’d check it out and sure enough there were the FPC items!

      @ Leslie

I just had this talk with the manager at my local walmart, I find that “free” items are removed from the shelf including zantac, and back in June Glade new expressions free trial both appeared on the self after the coupons expired. I was assured this wasn’t a conspiracy but it continues to happen such as with the Protein Bars…Makes you wonder!

    4. John says:

You spend way too much money. You have a spending problem. You would save money if you just kept buying to a normal amount. You buy every deal you can get your hands on, you just use this as an excuse to do so.

    5. Leslie says:

Hey, has anyone actually gotten the $2.22 Zantac at Wal-Mart? In the Lower Mainland, (Vancouver & area, BC), Wal-Mart has removed all of these from the shelves. Also, they have not put out the Good & Natural Granola bars that have a get 1 free coupon. How is it where you are??

    6. Isabel says:

Isn’t the limit 5 gas cards per household?

    7. Krista says:

@KD, the $5 gas cards are issued as a MasterCard gift card worth $5. They do not need to be used for gas alone. They can be used for groceries. Unless Kellogg’s has changed their offer this year, groceries can be purchased in the future. As a gift card, they do not expire.

I agree with PrairieBargainista in regards to double-dipping on the savings percentage. It makes it like you’re saving more than you actual are. The word “savings” has different meanings for everyone. To me savings means spending less than you have budgeted. Normally I would not pay regular price so really I did not save anything. However if I budgeted $100 a week for groceries and I only spent $80, then I did save $20. I think Mrs January is GREAT in stretching her dollar.

    9. KD says:

Actually, the $5 gas cards are $5 off Gas, they won’t be used on grocery purchases in the future, they are gas cards.

      PrairieBargainista… Tank you!!!

I’ve been noticing that also for sometime, but have not said anything coz I thought it was me doing the math wrong…

I agree with your statement 100%

    11. PrairieBargainista says:

You are double-dipping on your savings calculations. You have taken the $5 value of the gas cards off the price you paid for the cereal. And then, when you spend the cards on groceries you will take the $5 off again but unfortunately you can’t save it twice. I’ve noticed you do this a lot with your calculations, therefore over-inflating your percentage of savings!

    12. Mesenga says:

Ooh totally missed this. I’ll have to go back this week

    13. Kelly says:

This is amazing! Thanks for posting!
