How To Organize Your Gift Storage Area

I have a gift storage area. It is one section of my basement storage. I have plastic totes I got on sale a few yrs ago. They are labeled Kids (toys and stuff), House (house warming, candles etc..), Baby (baby gifts), Christmas (I buy all yr round for x-mas) Birthday (for my girls/DH), Random (shower gel, body spray etc…).

I really need to find a better way to organize my gift storage area, right now it’s just a laundry basket stuffed full in the corner of our walk-in closet. It’s actually overflowed and I have some random gifts just sitting on the floor of our closet. So I have to go searching when it’s gift time! lol!

But I do keep a gift list of purchased items and who/what it is for in our family binder; as I would forget what I had and would end up buying more than one gift for a particular person!

We definitely take advantage of clearance items when we see them. I may end up getting some storage bins with angled lids that stack so I can easily access the gifts. Thanks for the video, was definitely inspirational!! :)

I love the idea of drawers but being a furniture nut, I would paint them and put funky drawer pulls on them. My cupboards need to look as goon on the inside as they do on the outside.

I dont pre-buy a lot of my gifts but do like to have thank you and baby gifts on hand. I just have baskets on a shelf in my linen closet.

When I was buying toys for my kids, my sister’s kids and random kid birthday parties (that they always seemed to remember the night before!), we had an old wardrobe with shelves in it and a drawer at the bottom. The kids actually never looked in it as it was in the workshop so it was great. We got rid of that and I bought large wheeled totes and slid them in the back of the crawlspace. I still don’t think they know about those…but I think there is only one tote left now with a few random things that might get used one day.

I don’t really pre-buy that much now as they are all older and no one ever knows what they want ahead of time! But I sure took advantage of toy sales when they were younger. When our KMart closed it was a field day!!!

Great video on gift organizing. I am NOT that organized. I know where the gift stuff is — the list is in my head lol.
