Baby/Toddler Freebies For Canadians

It’s getting to the point in my pregnancy (I’m over 6 months now!) where I am really starting to prepare for the arrival of our second child. We have already purchased a great toddler bed for Elliott, so the crib is ready to go for baby number two. We have all the clothing we need (for the most part) and I’m in the process of stocking up on diapers.

I have begun looking for all of the free baby/toddler samples that I can find and am surprised at how many are available to Canadians. I don’t remember getting this many freebies when I was pregnant with Elliott!

It’s always nice to receive free samples in the mail – especially when they are for products that are expensive to purchase in the stores. Thankfully, there are many companies that are willing to send samples to expecting parents. It’s a great way to test out their products before you actually buy a full size version.

I hope that this list of free baby samples for Canadians has helped you. I made sure to only include companies that I personally have received samples from. There are many baby freebies available, but I warn you to be cautious about the ones you sign up for, as there are many scams out there. The ones above are freebies that are legitimate and have been received not just by myself, but by many.

Enjoy!

If you have signed up for baby/toddler freebies before, please post in the comments about which ones you received.

5 Easy Ways to Save Money

I recently wrote an article for Frugal Edmonton Mama, sharing 5 easy ways to save money. Here’s a short sample:

Use a change jar.
A friend of mine starts a brand new change jar at the beginning of each year, depositing change into it at the end of every day. She is not allowed to touch this money until the end of the year, and when she does, she often has a few hundred dollars that she can put into her savings account or towards something she needs to purchase (like last year when she needed a new barbecue).

{Over} Giveaway: Cloth Diaper Package (Value of $100+) from Apple Cheeks

***GIVEAWAY CLOSED***
Winner: viviane11@

I’ve been toying with the idea of cloth diapers ever since Elliott was born over 2 years ago, but was never ready to take the plunge. I was scared of the extra laundry, the messes and the upfront costs.

About 6 weeks ago, I received an email from Apple Cheeks, asking if I would like to sample their diapers. I jumped at the chance, since a start up pack of re-useable diapers can be expensive and I wanted to make sure I liked them before agreeing to use them with our second child.

I received 1 diaper for Elliott, 1 swim diaper and 1 diaper for the new baby (who is due at the end of March).

Elliott was not a big fan of the diaper at first, but I think that was just because it was different. After he wore it a few times, it was just like any other diaper to him.

My only complaint about the diapers is that they can be a bit bulky, but other than that, they are great! I may consider using them for baby #2 (we do have a lot of disposables in the stockpile though, but I suppose we could use those for overnight and travelling).

Apple Cheeks has generously offered to giveaway a cloth diaper package (including 9 micro terry inserts, 3 envelope covers and 1 swim diaper – a value of over $100) to one lucky MrsJanuary.com reader.

If you would like to win, please leave a comment with your opinion on cloth diapering.

You must leave a valid email address with your comment, or you are not eligible to win.

Contest closes on February 1, 2012 at 12pm EST. Valid for Canadian residents only.
