2010 Financial Goals

Richard and I sat down a week ago and started going over our goals for 2010. Here is what we would like to do:

$10,000 in Tax Free Savings Accounts (2): Definetely worth it with the tax break. We managed to do it last year so I’m really hoping we can do it again this year.

Completely fund Emergency Fund with 6 months living expenses ($15,000): We are more than halfway there. I’m very optimistic about this one, considering most of the money we put into our TFSA’s will be for the emergency fund. So this and the first goal are kind of one… I guess.

Pay off Richard’s Car: We have just over $8000 left on his car and it’s our only debt, so I’d love to get rid of it. His dad paid for the car so he wouldn’t have to pay interest on it, so we are just paying his mom now. No interest is great, but I’d still rather just pay the darn thing off so I can finally yell NO MORE DEBT from the rooftop.

$15,000 in Investment Savings Account by Dec. 31, 2010: Richard is very anxious to start trading, so this is more his goal than mine. :)

What are your goals (financial or not) for 2010?

I have not even started thinking about setting goals for 2010.. I should probably start with spending less money on meaningless things. We need to begin stashing money away into our savings account.

i want to stash my coupon savings into a piggy bank, and to do that, we need to start paying CASH for things instead of using debit. if i’m using my debit card when i’m out with you on the 31st, i give you permission to slap my hand. :P

    In the begining…

Well as 2010 rears its ugly head its time once again to jump on the band wagon of making resolutions. Here they are, in no particular order.

    1. Lose weight and become more healthy

    2. Pay off some bills

    3. Save some cash

    4. Take care of myself

    5. Blog the process for everyone to see

I don’t know if I will be able to keep any of this up, but I guess putting it down in writing holds me accountable to something.

I really do not have any goals set for 2010, I am however interested in how much money I save( or not save) being such a coupon mania, I know I save money on this shopping trip or that, but in the end am I buying useful?

Well I am a broke student. I don’t have many financial plans. But I am taking a concentration in finance. So my financial plans are to stop spending money on shampoos and razors and invest in a good epilating system. And to put 100 dollars away per month so I can get my boyfriend (also broke student) a geometro! Seriously I wish university taught more hands on finance courses. Yay I can find present value and future value but I can’t procure some money for the life of me!

My goal is to stop splurging on LUSH cosmetic products and start being more savvy with my money. I want to save $2000 by cutting back on unnecessary purchases and start scouting for coupons.

Oh btw I’m redsky on SC ;)

  8. missbobloblaw says:

My goal is to save $5000 on household goods using coupons and to save half of those savings in cash!
