3 Weeks to a Spring Clean Home: Task #11

Spring cleaning is in full swing and since I’ve been resting for 6 weeks, taking care of a newborn, this house has gotten a bit out of control. I’m very eager to get it clean and organized for the summer!

I plan on tackling 1 spring cleaning task every day (except Sundays), for 3 weeks. They will be kitchen tasks, bedroom tasks and around the house tasks.

I hope you’ll join me in this process!

    Here is Task #11:

Go through your clothing and get rid of things you no longer need.

Try on everything that you own and if it doesn’t fit, sell or donate it. If it’s stained, ripped or not your style anymore, let it go.

You only have to tackle your own clothing, but I suggest getting your family to join in and go through their clothing as well!

Come back later tonight for an update on my progress with this task.

Please share your progress in the comments!

3 Weeks to a Spring Clean Home: Task #11

    1. Terri B says:

Another task added to the growing list. With 5 in our house this will also take me at least a week to get through everyones closets and dressers. But I promise, I will get caught up, keep working hard everyone.

    2. Nicole says:

Every January 1st I move my belt hanger in my closet to the left side. as I wear clothes, they go on the left side of the belt hanger. Whatever is sitting on the right side of the belt hanger next January 1st hasn’t been worn in 1year & needs to go! I do purge items throughout the year that don’t suit my fancy anymore.

This one is going to take me a least a week to get done. To be honest i’m having trouble keeping up – I work full time out of the home. I really want to keep up.

    4. Katie says:

I have a lot of clothes and this has turned out to be a month long project! However I’m all ready to try and sell some of it, hold on to it to consign later in the year or donate. Feels good.

    5. Zelda says:

Also, the shelters are always in need of towels and blankets.

    6. Zelda says:

Don’t forget your local humane society second hand stores. You can donate un-needed clothing and other goods that they can sell with proceeds going to the sheltered animals Δ_Δ

    7. Onshopper says:

A local church has a ‘store’ onsite for any local people who need clothing so they get all my discards.

    8. Mia says:

I do this every time I run out of room in my closet LOL… it’s a jungle in there…. I love my clothes!

    9. Christa says:

I usually do this year round but last week I also descided to clean out the linen closet. Plus my bras and underwear and socks and see what to throw away or donate.

    10. Betty says:

We’ve always done that but especially with kids. We had a rule in our house that if kids wanted to have a new pair of jeans, dress or whatever, they had to go through their closet & dresser to see what fit & what didn’t fit. So basically they had to give away or hand down something in order to get something new. They didn’t always get new however. Sometimes a trip to Goodwill or Value Village was perfect for them & Mom. I was glad they agreed. The same goes for kitchen gadgets, pots & pans, etc. I was given a lot of kitchen casserole dishes, knick knacks etc. for a wedding present. About 15 yrs. ago I decided to go through my stuff & see if I still needed all this “stuff”. I gave away quite a few things as I figured if I hadn’t used them in the first 10 yrs. of marriage, I probably wasn’t going to. It actually feels good to do that kind of clean up once in a while & have somebody benefit from your cleaning out the cupboards.

    11. I usually do this on a regular basis throughout the year as well.
Family gets hands me down clothes and whatever they don’t want we give it to the thrift shop.

    12. Rhonda Miller says:

this one I have been doing all week already lol.. Actually no one can get in our 14 yr old daughter’s room right now as she has her room torn apart tossing out (or donating) things she no longer needs or wants and cleaning every square inch of her room.. Yesterday I was so proud of her… she got rid of an old bag (like comforters come in) full of bits and pieces of paper, old scrapbooking bits etc etc.. Up until yesterday she refused to , yesterday she couldn’t get it to the dumpster in our complex fast enough :D
