  • 3 Weeks to a Spring Clean Home: Task #12 Update

It’s amazing how much dust can accumulate on your light fixtures.

The last time I cleaned ours was probably before I was pregnant, so it’s been about a year… and you could definitely tell.

I took most of the lights down to clean them, but some weren’t that dirty, so I just wiped them off.

The light fixture in the kitchen was a nightmare. It was coated in grease and dead bugs – disgusting! If I’d known it was getting that dirty, I would have cleaned it sooner.

Elliott helped me clean some of the lights as well.

He refuses to wear pants lately. I don’t get it.

He thought it was fun cleaning the “light balls”. I’m glad I have a child who actually enjoys cleaning. For now, anyway. I’m sure this will change as he gets older!

Your son is so adorable. Save those pictures for those teenage years, when they are “too busy” to help!!!
Hope all is well with your daughter -she must be a good sleeper for you to get all these tasks done!

    2. It was nice to see him enjoying helping you.. nice photos too! Your looking well.
Got all my light fixtures and ceiling fans done already. I like to start cleaning early in the year- like March, before it gets warmer out and I dont feel like being indoors.Although weather so far this year has been kind of disappointing.

Cassie its just a boy thing. Both my son’s were this way!! My 6 year old still hates to were pants around the house. Have fun and keep up the good work on the cleaning. I did the whole house a few weeks ago to put it up for sale.

    4. Mel says:

Boy oh boy Cassie all this time I thought man is she ambitious but now I realize poor little Elliot is doing ALL the work. LOL Send your little guy over to my place.

    5. V says:

Only worry about the pants issue if your husband starts doing it and you have company over…LOL. Not a big deal with your little guy :-D

    6. Stefanie says:

Thanks for encouraging the cleaning- Im ashamed at how dirty my house has been though these tasks-sadly Ive skipped a few but ill catch up this coming weekend, i cant stop staring at my baseboards! LOL

Also thanks for the personal touch love seeing Pictures :)

    7. Our lights get cleaned when ever I have to replace a lightbulb for the most part. For the ceiling fans I have some of those blue shop towels around for cleaning.. I’ll take a couple of those, wet them slightly and just wipe down the blades, maybe 2-3 times over the warm weather… works for me anyway. I also use the shop towels for cleaning the bathroom too, I can dip them in bleach solutions and wipe things clean without it falling apart. As for your son not wearing pants, it could be just because you are potty training him maybe??? Easier to pull down one thing than pants too… Good luck with that.

    8. Shelby says:

I don’t know if you have any ceiling fans you clean, but my cousin taught me a trick: hold an umbrella upside down under the fan, and sweep all the dust into it. Then you can just carry it outside or to the garbage and dump it without getting dust all over everything below it. I suppose if you’re superstitious about umbrellas indoors, that wouldn’t work though…

    9. Jessica says:

lol i thought it was only my kids! My 9 year old daughter stays dressed, but my 3 sons (aged 4,2 and 1) HATE pants :P

    10. Becca says:

I am so glad you are keeping the whole list on your site! I will probably use it next year, as we are moving within the month and will be spring cleaning as we go lol. That an ingenius way to get everything done :)
