3 Weeks to a Spring Clean Home: Task #4

Spring cleaning is in full swing and since I’ve been resting for 6 weeks, taking care of a newborn, this house has gotten a bit out of control. I’m very eager to get it clean and organized for the summer!

I plan on tackling 1 spring cleaning task every day (except Sundays), for 3 weeks. They will be kitchen tasks, bedroom tasks and around the house tasks.

I hope you’ll join me in this process!

Having a toddler, my walls are always covered in finger prints, so I’m actually looking forward to getting this task completed.

    Here is Task #4:

Wash the walls in the high traffic areas of your home.

Come back later tonight for an update on my progress with this task.

Please share your progress in the comments!

Like Anne I used my swiffer flat floor style mop – just used a rag and wrapped it over the mop head then secured it with an elastic. Made those high up spots and ceilings a much easier task. For the few areas where there were lots of fingerprints – like around the light switches I just used the rag free hand. Cassie – thanks for the inspiration to get my home fresh and clean for spring!

My walls are so marked up! I am up for this challenge. Hope to have them all done by the end of the weekend. :)

      Thanks for all the ideas!

    4. Alison says:

I use Mr Clean diluted in a bucket of water with a microfibre cloth like others have mentionned

    5. Virginia says:

I find a magic eraser works really well but becarefull not to scrub to hard because some paint will come off.

    6. Kaila Burke says:

Yes a damp cloth with dish soap is great and then I use a Magic Eraser to get the scuffs.

Most of the time I find the soapy dishcloth works just fine (if you remember to do it often) but if you have a very grimy wall, a nice old fashioned bar of Sunlight soap does wonders. Work up a lather on a wet cloth and off you go! Make sure to start at the bottom, yes the bottom. If you start at the top and water drips run down the wall, it can be the dickens to keep washing so you don’t see those!

    8. Anne says:

I find using a flat floor mop (the ones with removable washable pads) makes cleaning walls a breeze. I have a Vileda ProMist – can add whatever cleaner I want into the reservoir and spray and clean as I go :) With 2 sticky fingered munchkins I find my walls are always getting dirty – and cleaning is so easy that normally I’ll give them a quick swipe before I wash the floors with it – takes maybe an extra min or two

Any thoughts on what to wash the walls with? With just a damp cloth work?
