3 Weeks to a Spring Clean Home: Task #9

Spring cleaning is in full swing and since I’ve been resting for 6 weeks, taking care of a newborn, this house has gotten a bit out of control. I’m very eager to get it clean and organized for the summer!

I plan on tackling 1 spring cleaning task every day (except Sundays), for 3 weeks. They will be kitchen tasks, bedroom tasks and around the house tasks.

I hope you’ll join me in this process!

    Here is Task #9:

Wash both your shower curtain and liner.

I’ve been meaning to wash our shower curtain and liner since before Kaylee was born. I’m glad to be able to get this task out of the way today!

We have a plastic shower curtain liner (I think I bought it for around $10 at Walmart) and I just throw it in the washing machine with a towel or two and then let it hang dry. The shower curtain itself gets washed separately with towels as well.

Come back later tonight for an update on my progress with this task.

Please share your progress in the comments!

3 Weeks to a Spring Clean Home: Task #9

Sweet, I dont have shower curtains, I have a stall…Thank you to Jackie for the tip with the bounce sheet to clean the soap scum, I am going to try that next time I do the bathroooms.

    2. Darcy says:

buying a washable liner for your shower is so much cheaper in the end, I use to buy the cheap plastic ones, and had to buy a new one every year, but now with the fabric ones, I wash it every 2 months and it lasts for years…..and they cost under 20 dollars….hope this suggestion works

The other day a lady told me that using a bounce sheet on her shower walls is great for getting soap scum off. so when i had my shower i grabbed one and tried it my walls are shiney and clean and was easy and quick.

If you taking down the shower curtain, you could clean the shower rod at the same time! I found this one: http://www.ehow.com/how_5552508_clean-chrome-shower-curtain-rods.html but I’m sure there are plenty of others solutions on Google.

    5. Mine is cloth and I wash it regularily…as shampoo and body wash often gets on the inside of the curtain. Makes me feel better knowing it’s clean!

    6. I wash mine regularly as I toss it in the washer with the scatter mats, (2 from the kitchen and 1 from the bathroom). A little extra water in the washer and vinegar in the rinse dispenser. The mats get tossed in the dryer and the shower curtain goes back up. It’s a super cheapy from Canadian Tire….. $1.99!!! It’s not PVC either so even right out of the package it doesn’t smell and it handles the washer no problem!! I love it so much I bought another one to use as back up should this one one ever crap out on me. I can’t believe something so cheap lasts so well, I am seriously impressed with it!!!

    7. Mesenga says:

I have ugly doors in replacement of curtains
So I’ll be cleaning those. Can’t wait to renovate the bathroom and convert my 80′s bathroom to something more modern

    8. Alison says:

I wash ours all the time and just put the liner and curtain in the machine together on their own. Our curtain is the fabric type though so that may make a difference.

I’ve recently ripped a couple of the tabs at the top of our liner though so I think I’ll just go buy a new liner and skip washing it this time. This was a good reminder to go buy one.

    9. krystalee says:

HAHA i did this a month ago :) yaya lol

    10. Mia says:

I didn’t know you could just throw it in the machine with towels!! Good to know… will give it a try… that’s so much easier than trying to wash it by hand!

    11. Christina says:

I shredded my shower curtain washing it before. It was in a washer with an agitator. It was bad!

    12. lizzy mae says:

Me too! LOL My curtain is new as well… I never thought of putting the curtain itself into the wash…just figured the washer may have shredded it. Now I know for next time!

    13. colleen says:

Yay today I can catch up on one I didnt do before…I just got a new one when I renovated my bathroom recently! :)
