  • 3 Weeks to a Spring Clean Home: Task #4 Update

Kaylee was super fussy today and Elliott was at daycare, so I wasn’t able to get around to cleaning the walls until after dinner.

They really weren’t as bad as I thought they’d be, but I cleaned them anyway!

The worst walls were in Elliott’s room (he presses his feet against the wall when he’s in bed). They were so disgusting! My rag was pretty much black when I was done cleaning those walls.

Elliott really loves helping me clean, so I gave him his own rag to clean the walls.

He loved it so much that he wiped them (and the coffee table) for over an hour!

It’s amazing how many little finger prints I found on the walls around the house. I’m glad they’re all gone… for now!

Laura: Just soap and water. Only a bit of soap, though.

Cassie, You are doing Elliot’s (very distant) future wife a huge favour!

    3. Mesenga says:

We moved into our new home last month so we don’t have high traffic areas yet. Instead I finished painting the first floor and will continue with the second and third soon. No need to wash walls yet!

    4. I’m afraid I dont wash walls- with no little kids around dont really find a need to.Will do spot wipes, like around doors, by the toliet, etc., but not full wall cleaning.

I use the ENJO plus line duo glove to clean my walls…. use just the glove and water for a very easy and quick clean! And it works amazing…. no scrubbing needed! I helped friends of ours clean their (very dirty) house that they had just moved into and we couldn’t believe the difference on the walls after using the ENJO glove… and cleaning went so fast! And for the extra hard marks on the walls I used a little of ENJO’s marble paste with the glove and they came right off. Love my ENJO glove! :)

    6. Betty says:

kids pressing their feet up against the wall while they are sleeping; hmmmm sounds very familiar in this family. If you want to see dirty kids feet though, you should watch “The Sound of Music”. After all these years of watching this movie, I happened to notice in the scene where all the kids are in Maria’s room when it was storming that one of the boy’s had feet that were really dirty (black!!!). Must have filmed an outdoor scene just before this one & this kid must have been bare foot.

@ Erica: I feel your pain. Our apt. paint is the same (cheap). Once we had moved, I tried to wash the marks off the walls & all that happened is that I took off the paint (& I wasn’t pressing that hard). Tried magic eraser on other marks but it too took the paint off. So I just left the marks where they were.

    7. Erica says:

I don’t think I can wash my wash. The paint my builder used it so cheap that I’m afraid to touch them. I have been using a solid white eraser to get some marks off that I’ve noticed but even that leaves a mark :(

    8. Mia says:

I stuck with the living room, dining room and foyer areas for this one… but I also did doors, knobs, switch plates, hinges and baseboards too! :)

    9. Janna says:

Hey, where are the other 3 tasks up til this one?! :) I can’t seem to find them!!

    10. Laura says:

What do you use to clean the walls?

    11. Kim says:

I do them with my three year old.. loves to help… i tend to have to mop afterwards as he hasn’t figured out how to wring out the rag!

    12. Gayle Bellemare says:

have you ever thought of doing the walls with one of the flat mops available on the market? It cuts the cleaning time right down.
