    Menu Plan Monday

Since we are living on a very tight budget right now, I have decided to start not only planning our dinner menus, but our breakfast and lunch menus as well.

This is a great way to save money, and it also saves us time in the mornings and afternoons. We no longer have to “figure out” what to eat, we just look at the list.

teachermum – not only does planning your menu give you a specific list for the grocery store (even on days you are shopping hungry ;P), but the bonus of planning a week, two weeks, even a month (like me) is that you can see all the ingredients you’ll need and watch for sales and say, “oh, I’ll need this next week!” and take advantage of them.

teachermum – Oh yes, menu plans are key if you want to save money! PS. thanks for that link – great site!

I never meal plan and really need to start. I have a full pantry so there is lots to choose from, but I’d like to try gluten-free and dairy-free for a time (Lent seems like a tidy set of dates!) to see if it has any health benefits for me and I KNOW I need to plan for that!

I always appreciate reading everyones menus to get ideas different from the same old same old.

I love days that the menu writes itself…tonight will be pancakes and sausage!!!

Kay – Oooh your garlic and herb chicken with rice sounds goooooood!

Me Again! – I stay cheerful knowing that I’m not spending any money, haha. But sometimes it is hard to not go out and hunt for deals!

Janice – I love picnics too! I think Elliott will really enjoy them when he’s older. :D

Your picnic dinner reminds me of when our kds were small and my husband was taking a night class. Sometimes the kids and I would have a “picnic ” supper on a blanket in the family room. Sandwiches, vegggies, etc. The kids loved it. A nice break from the dinner table..especially this time of year with snow to our armpits LOL.

      Hi Cassie,

Nice to see the additon of breakfast and lunch items to your weekly menu plan, will help me with some ideas, thanks! I did at shop at SDM on Sunday and got the $20 Esso card. Used it today and it was awesome knowing that I will have my gas for the week paid for! Couldn’t justify another shop today just to get the extra points though :( How do you stay cheerful with so little shopping!!!

    7. Kay says:

Well, I only do dinner menu (because my husband is fed breakfast and lunch at work and my baby is only 6 months), BUT I plan out a month in advance.

Tonight – Garlic and Herb chicken with rice
Tuesday – Black Bean Soup and homemade cornbread
Wednesday – Gorgonzola Farfella Pasta and salad
Thursday – Texas Beef Tip Stew
      Friday – Lasagna and salad

My hubby is in charge of the meals on Saturday and Sunday. It’s always a great surprise what he thinks up! He’s one of those people who cook out of the cabnet…and awesome stuff!
