October is off to a good start… (sort of)

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. I have to start with the good news because it leads to the bad news so here we go – DH found a job. Unfortunetely, he couldn’t find anything in his field because everyone seems to be on a hiring freeze so he had to just take anything he could find because we need to pay the bills! He ended up getting hired at a warehouse. Ugh. I am happy that he will be working 40-45 hours a week but am not happy at the 10/hr. he will be making. That’s like 1/3 of the income he was bringing in at his last job. The bad news (besides the shitty pay) is that because of how low the pay is, we are going to be $1100 short for our monthly bills (and that’s AFTER I removed and lowered a bunch of amounts). DH said that his dad wants him to do some work on his house and he will pay him (he did this a year or 2 ago) so we’re going to find out this week what kind of work needs to be done, by when and how much income DH will make from it. As long as we make $1100 a month, I will be happy. Hopefully he will find a better paying job before next month but the worst case scenario is that he keeps working for his dad.

There is more good news though… today when I checked the mail, I had a giftcard for Zellers/HBC for $250! I have no idea where that came from but I called the number on the card to verify that there was money on the card and there was. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS! Whoever sent that – please let me kiss you. I was so excited I skipped all the way home from my mailbox. What a great way to start the day!

So even though the job situation is still a bit iffy, I think we should be okay. I’m also trying to find more side jobs myself to help with the bills and reach my goals for the month. I know we can do it if we really set our minds to it! I’m going to need acne treatment for all the pimples that have shown up on my forehead due to stress. I really need to work on being more optimistic.

I already had ANOTHER $250 in gift cards from wedding gifts. I do not need $500 to Zellers so I am trying to trade some of them.

if your so excited about receiving $250 for zellers/hbc why are you trading $200 of it on smartcanucks

i should probably find a job someday. just to pass the boredom. i seriously don’t know what we’d do without the army, because they pay all of our bills and pay for our housing. i love it. good luck! yaya for the gift card. that’s awesome.

Hey, you should look into working in a bakery or something! I know it can be a crappy slave job BUT, (A)it may be something you’ll like, (B) You’ll earn extra money that you really need (C) You won’t be bored!

I mean, I think it’s a good idea until your hubby finds a better job! Plus, you’re talented @ baking!

I don’t exactly have a normal job. I do a bunch of random jobs such as cupcake orders, buying and selling things on Ebay and I also run a private advertising website where I earn a good chunk of my income.

Enjoy your posts…but confused when you say find extra jobs…..I am curious what your “normal” job is?? How do you make it work/pay?

  9. Melinda says:

Yay! I’m so glad DH got a job- even if it’s not great pay or in his field, at least it’s something!!
